Right Place. Right Time.

Everyone has experienced one of those moments where you unexpectedly met someone that may have changed the course of your life. Maybe you unexpectedly bumped into someone at a party and wound up marrying them. Perhaps you ran into an old friend that gave you the lead to the job you have. One of the greatest friendships I have to this day started that way.

I think most of us have also experienced being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In fact, I’d venture to say that we probably have more stories of being in the wrong place than being in the right place. The difficulty is that once you experience being in the wrong place over and over, you develop a negative expectation without realizing it. You begin to think that is how your life always goes. Trouble just seems to find you.

What would it be like if our life was filled with being in the right place at the right time all the time? God’s word is filled with wonderful promises to help us develop this expectation.

Psalm 37:23 says the steps of good men are directed by the Lord. He delights in each step they take. "But I’m not a good man," you might be saying. "I’ve done so many bad things in my life. There is now way God would do this for me. I just don’t deserve it." Here’s the good news. If you are a believer in Jesus, then God already sees you justly. Not because you’ve done everything right to deserve it. But because Jesus did everything right and He deserves it. That’s how God sees it. God wants to see you conquer the world. He wants you to walk in His perfect design for your life. Consequently, God has decided to direct your steps. He wants to help you be in the right place at the right time so you can reach the places you never thought you'd experience.

I fully expect to go to a conference and meet all the right people to help me with my ministry. If I attend a business seminar, I fully expect to encounter business people that have the exact answers I need. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve experienced being in the right place at the right time. The current home I live in today is a constant reminder of this promise. My wife and I literally stumbled on it between business appointments. We were believing for a new house, but this one didn’t make sense. It was in foreclosure. The trees were so over grown you couldn’t even see the house. But when we stepped onto the grounds, we just knew this was our home. Ten days later we secured it and purchased it.

Look beyond your natural circumstances today. Trust God to direct your steps. Believe He'll place you exactly where you need to be, even when you don't know where that is. I can’t promise you that you will experience this 24/7, but I can assure you God will direct your steps if you allow him and more often than not, you will find yourself in the right pace at the right time!
